Dear
Fellow Laborers,
August 2011
Katya
Saved
Kolya has been studying the Bible with me for about a
year and half, and has been growing. Kolya is a member of the
football team that I have been coaching, and that is how we first
made contact. As Kolya studied the Bible, his girlfriend Katya
started to listen in on our lessons. She is a basketball player
for a local club team, and is regularly asked to try out for the
national team for her age group in Moscow. She has never made
the national team but it still is considered a great honor to
be asked to try out. The first time she sat and listened to our
Bible study I made sure to focus on the Gospel, not knowing if
she would ever want listen in again. She did not get saved that
day, but she became a regular attendee to our discipleship classes.
Katya listened for about 5 months before getting saved. That is
not uncommon here for someone to take a long time before making
a decision for Christ. She has been faithful to our discipleship
lessons since getting saved. Please pray that she will grow as
a Christian and be the Christian lady God wants her to be.
Ongoing
Construction
I
am happy to let you know that the first of the roof is up and
standing. We have had some interesting occurrences to get to this
point. The two things that took the most time were attaching the
base of the roof to the house and then attaching large two story
tall trusses to that base on the roof. The first does not sound
very hard, but the perimeter planks have to be exactly level,
when the house is not exactly level. That is where it became difficult.
Long story short, we got it done. It turned out that the trusses
needed to have extra support as well. Both of these things together
took about 3 extra weeks to do. Plus last summer we had almost
no rain, this summer we have had many days of rain slowing work
on the roof further, forcing us to work on the basement (which
needs to be done, but the roof is more important).

New
Teacher for Angela and the Kids
Angela
and our children have a new teacher who is willing to come and
teach them Russian for free. We would like you to pray for her
salvation and that the situation works out. She has to travel
about an hour one way to get here as any teacher would, which
ends up discouraging people from teaching us.
