Provides Our Stamps for Temporary Residency
Just
days ago, we received our stamps and then registered our new residency
status with our local passport desk. This marks the firm establishment
of our presence here in Samara for the next three years. Thank
you so much for praying because it was all due to the Lord’s
working in a mighty way.
Our main obstacle to receiving our stamps was one final certificate
that we needed, but that a lady at our local passport desk refused
to give us. She was wrong in doing this, but the contacts that
we have made in the regional passport office were all on vacation,
and could not help us explain this to her. I went to this lady’s
office one more time to beg her to give us this certificate, but
with not much hope that it would make any difference.
We
praise the Lord for His provision of temporary residency firmly
establishing our presence in Samara.
Then
the Lord did something wonderful and promoted this lady out of
her post. The lady that replaced her, admitted that she did not
know what to do about the situation, so she consulted her superiors.
They did the right thing, and told her to give us this certificate.
I went the regional passport office and turned in this last document,
and was surprised when they offered to stamp my passport on the
spot. I was expecting some further requests or at least to wait
a little longer. I was so unprepared that I did not even bring
Angela with me who also needed to be present to receive her stamp.
I got my passport stamped, and then she got hers stamped a couple
of days later.
The line at our local passport desk to get newly registered with
our residency was very intense. It opens at 8:30-1:00 on Wednesdays
and at 2:00 to 5:30 on Fridays for a total of 8 hours a week.
I showed up at 6:00 am on Wednesday and signed up 21st on the
waiting list. By 8:30 there were 95 people signed up on the list.
The captain who registers everyone only was able to get through
25 people that day. Tensions run high with people often yelling,
pushing, and even crying at times. Although there were difficulties,
we managed to register our new residency with our local passport
desk. Praise the Lord!
