Dear
Fellow Laborers,
September
2006
Praise
the Lord for the exciting things He is doing in Russia!
Artyor
Saved
While
knocking on doors in our area I met Artyor (Arthur in English)
and had the privilege of leading him to Christ. We have had a
streak recently of leading teenagers to Christ, but then seeing
them succumb to parental pressure not to associate with us. I
called Artyor a couple of times after leading him to Christ and
could tell that something might be pressuring him as well. I went
back to the house and had a pretty good talk with Artyor’s
father who is also named Artyor. I showed him some of the literature
I had given his son, and explained who I was. At first he was
a little leery of me, but warmed up towards the end of the meeting.
Please pray that we would get a good chance to witness to him
and that we could continue working with his son Artyor.
University
Ministry
On
September 1 all schools from kindergarten to the highest university
open for the first day of class. There is a management institute
very close to our office in Samara. We are planning to focus much
of our evangelism on this institute. The young people here in
Samara have been the most open to the Gospel message and we believe
this will be a fruitful field. We are looking to see God work
in hearts and are praying that the Lord will call some of these
young men and women to serve Him full time in the ministry. Please
pray for this key ministry.
Vladimir
Very Open
While
I was grocery shopping for the week, I heard a stranger’s
voice call my name. My name is very uncommon here, therefore I
knew the person must be talking to me. I saw Vladimir, a man I
had witnessed to about month earlier waving to me. He had given
me his number and I had called a few times, but when I finally
got through his wive told me that he was an atheist and did not
want anything to do with me. I thought that was strange because
he seemed very open, but respected her command never to call back.
She was at the store as well turning red with embarrassment. It
turns out that Vladimir was very interested in hearing about the
Gospel after all, but his wife was just as against it. Vladimir
asked why I had not called. Please pray for the whole family’s
salvation as Vladimir really wants to meet with us.
