Dear
Fellow Laborers,
December
2006
Merry
Christmas from our family to yours.
The
Lord is Moving our Location
We
have rented a 3 room apartment in Samara for an office and meeting
place for discipleship for the past year. The landlady had said
that we could rent the apartment until she found good work in
Samara, then she was planning on moving back and using the apartment
for herself. This past November she called and said she had changed
her mind and asked us to move out earlier than we had expected.
As we are looking for an apartment now, rent prices have really
increased, so we will be paying a little more money and only getting
a two room. However this will meet our current needs. We are focusing
on saving our money and buying a piece of land that we can build
a church building on. Please pray that we will be able to meet
in our new place for a long time to come.
Explosion
Near Miss
We
often do not think of the constant care that God provides for
us. Everyday we are protected from so many things, but we do not
even notice it and think of our safety as something we are entitled
to. God reminded me this month that every moment we are here is
a gift that could be taken away. While on the way to meet our
doctor who gives Amelia and Alex their shots, I ran out of gas.
I knew I was about to, and still did. I went to the nearest gas
station and since they could not help me, continued on to the
next one. As I was approaching the station, three apartments exploded
across the street from me. Car alarms went off everywhere, I threw
my hands up instinctively, having been moved by the force of the
explosion, but did stay on my feet. I turned around to see two
large plumes of smoke and people getting up of the street. I went
over to investigate what could have happened. There were windows
broken everywhere and three apartments in one building, all on
different stories, were totally black inside. On the ground, where
two minutes later I would have been walking by to get a gas can
from an auto parts store on that side of the street, were two
trees each missing half of all of their branches. There was black
residue covering the snow in between the two trees. No one on
the street was badly injured, many were walking around dazed,
but I do not know what happened to those inside the three apartments.
I am also not sure about the cause of the explosions, but my guess
would be a gas leak. We praise the Lord for keeping us safe and
covet your prayers in this area.
