Dear
Fellow Laborers,
November
2007
Praise
the Lord for the exciting things He is doing in Russia!
Conference
of Baptist Missionaries
I
attended an annual conference of other independent Baptist missionaries
and church leaders in Moscow this month. The conference was smaller
this year than it has been in the past, mostly due to a few people
being away on furlough. While in Moscow, I was invited to preach
at a missionary church in central Moscow. The Lord has providentially
provided them with a great place to meet and more importantly,
there was a great spirit in the church. There were people in the
church of every age group, but it was interesting to see that
the most active people in the church were in their twenties, most
of them having been reached when they were in their teens. While
there, we went soul-winning and I met a young adult named Dima.
He gave me his phone number and said that he was considering accepting
Christ as his Savior. Please pray for the follow up on this possible
new convert.
Many of us at this conference are also pulling our resources together
to create a Bible curriculum that could be used to train future
pastors on a college level in each of our local churches. With
many missionaries giving to the project, we are seeing progress
in the level of funds available. We still need to find some good
translators that we can trust to be proficient, conscientious
and true to the text that they are translating. Three missionaries,
including myself, are working with translators on smaller projects,
hoping to find some qualified for bigger projects. Please pray
that we will find the right people for this great task.
New Recruits
We had a special blessing this month being visited by the Elam
family, Brian and Camille. They are from Alberta Canada, and believe
that the Lord would have them come to Russia as missionaries.
We met them in Moscow where they were able to attend the conference
and meet missionaries from all over Russia. We saw many sights
in Moscow and then came to Samara where we talked about future
plans for their ministry. The need for more missionaries here
is so great, but there are many pitfalls. On average, two Baptist
families a year are kicked out of Russia, so the need is great
for those who are here to help those who are coming. Other families
have contacted us about being called to this great field. Please
pray that we would see many families ready to serve God here in
this needy place.
Pray
for Inna
Please
pray for Inna and her family. She comes from a charismatic background,
and although she disagreed with many things about her church,
she respected many of the preachers she saw on TV. She is having
a hard time understanding God’s place for women in the church.
Please pray for God’s grace in her life.
Yours
in Christ,
Adam, Angela, Alex, Amelia, and Alisa
