Dear Fellow Laborers,

April 2008

Praise the Lord for the exciting things He is doing in Russia!

Looking for Bids

We have started the process of gathering bids for the architectural drawings and getting all the building permits together. In order to build our house/church we will need 15 to 16 different building permits. The permits that will require the most work and prayer are the electricity permit and the gas permit. We are hoping to find the right people that can get us hooked up without overcharging us. To get all of the permits and the final signature before we are able to build usually takes six months. We are praying that we will have most of the permits by the time we leave on furlough. When we first began two and a half years ago looking for architects, we were quoted a price of 16,000 USD. Prices on everything have really gone up since then, so I was expecting to have to pay more than this, but the Lord blessed and gave us some contacts who will probably end up costing us less than this. Also part of the cost is a geological sample of the land that needs to be taken in order to determine what type of foundation will be sufficient for the house. We are praying that we can borrow this information from a neighbor so that we can save 2,500 dollars.

English Lessons

We started giving English lessons for free about 4 months ago to about 6 friends of Alexander, one of our converts, in order to reach them with the Gospel. A couple of people dropped out but I believe we will see some fruit from this soon. Our last topic for our lessons is the meaning of life, the existence of right and wrong, and the existence of God. Roman, who is probably the best English speaker of the whole class, says he is an atheist. He did admit though that if God was real, then the most important things in his life, would not be as important and he would have to change around his priorities. We got into our discussion about God and he admitted that God was the most reasonable explanation for the complexity of the design of the universe and it origins. However, he still did not want to say the words, “God exists.” I told him that he does not want to admit to this because his life would have to change, and he does not want to do that. He said, “That is exactly right.” He was laughing uncomfortably while admitting something he did not want to admit. Please pray for Roman, Sergie, and Olga from this class to receive Christ.

Yours in Christ,
Adam, Angela, Alex, Amelia, and Alisa
