Dear
Fellow Laborers,
January 2009
Praise the Lord for the exciting things that are happening in Russia!
Teenager Who Sang the Special Gets Saved
While at a church in the south part of Texas, there was another family visiting from the Dakotas that was musically inclined. All of the children in the family were teenagers and they sang some delightful songs about Jesus and being proud to be Baptists. When I gave the invitation at the end of the message, I was a little surprised to see the youngest member of their family raise her hand to admit her need of salvation. As she came forward with her father, she was very sensitive to the need of her soul, and wept as she asked Jesus to save her. This is a reminder that everyone needs salvation. Even if we just finished singing the special at our church, God sees our hearts and knows who is truly saved. How wonderful it was to see this young person take this step of courage to accept Christ, despite the expectations of others.
We Can Not Wait to Get Back to Russia
We contacted as many of our Russian converts as we could this holiday season, and everyone of them were excited to hear from us. Whenever you leave the mission field, it is a time of challenge and can be a time of growth for those who we left behind. It was good to hear our converts excited about getting to study the Bible with us again face to face. There is great pressure to identify with the Russian Orthodox Church in Russia. It has been awesome to see people’s faithfulness to the Lord, but we can’t wait to get back and to see God continue this great work in people’s lives. We also need to get working on building permits right away. We will also gather more bids for the foundation roof and windows. Please pray with us especially about the electricity and gas permits.
Last Month of Traveling
We are almost done with this furlough and what a joy it has been to see so many churches that have been such a blessing. We want to thank everyone who have encouraged us so much. We have stayed busy this last month and our odometer is reading about 43,000 miles. Our car is running well and we plan to take it to Russia with us via the Finnish border with Russia this May. Please pray that our trip back to Russia in January will be safe and smooth with no problems at the borders.
Yours
in Christ,
Adam, Angela, Alex, Amelia, and Alisa
