Dear
Fellow Laborers,
June 2011
First
Man with a Muslim Heritage Saved
Nina and Ludmilla had invited a friend over to our Bible
study named Zoya. Along with Nina’s daughter Sveta, and
her two children, our Bible study at their apartment has really
been growing. Zoya brought along her son who is about 30 years
old. After the Bible study, I had the opportunity to witness to
Ruslan, Zoya’s son. Ruslan prayed there right over the cups
of tea we were enjoying together in Nina’s kitchen and was
saved. I would not describe Ruslan as a faithful Muslim; however,
he and Zoya are of Tartar decent and almost all Tartar people
consider themselves Muslim. I praise the Lord that His grace can
save anybody from whatever background.
Liliya
Saved
Vadim,
Liliya’s husband, has been studying the Bible with me since
2008. When Vadim first got saved, I also witnessed to Liliya and
Vadim did his best to try to explain the Gospel to his wife. Liliya’s
reaction was, “Vadim that is fine for you, I am glad you
have found something you like, but I don’t think it is for
me.” I would go over to Vadim’s house every Sunday
and take him through our discipleship program and Vadim was really
growing. Liliya would always sit in the other room. I hoped she
could hear but if she did, she never said anything. She just thought
Vadim’s new relationship with Jesus, was his thing and not
hers. Then they began to have questions about their marriage and
asked me to help them through some things. I began to teach them
about marriage. During the last lesson, I told Liliya that people
can see a level of success in their marriage without being saved,
but that their marriage would never be all that God wanted it
to be if she was not saved. I explained the Gospel to her again
and she wept as she prayed to God to forgive her of all her sin.
She has started discipleship with us now as well. Please pray
that she will be faithful.
Ongoing
Construction
We
have started construction on the house again, and I am realizing
just how far away we were last winter. The roof, windows, doors,
and the gas should be completed this summer, but we have already
been working a month and a half on many details just to begin
the work on the roof. We had to raise the outside walls to be
even with the concrete panels covering the first floor, fill in
the spaces that the concrete panels did not cover, and build two
tall and large chimneys, plus many other odds and ends. We are
expecting the roof part of the construction to take two months.
We are also preparing future overflow space in the basement by
sealing the outside basement walls, and pouring concrete to form
the basement floor. Please pray for the safety for the work crew
and especially for their salvations.
